{"id":7477,"date":"2025-03-24T20:59:14","date_gmt":"2025-03-25T00:59:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.paulrioux.ca\/?page_id=7477\/"},"modified":"2025-04-02T19:03:00","modified_gmt":"2025-04-02T23:03:00","slug":"canadian-dental-care-plan-cdcp","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.paulrioux.ca\/en\/guide\/canadian-dental-care-plan-cdcp\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\">[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1743634971460{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}&#8221;]\n<h2 class=\"blog-single-title\">Fiscal and Financial Planning Guide 2024-2025<\/h2>\n<h3>General &gt; Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)<\/h3>\n<p>The federal government is phasing in the dental insurance plan (CDCP) in 2024.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility requirements :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Being a Canadian citizen<\/li>\n<li>Having a net family income of less than $90,000<\/li>\n<li>Having no access to a private dental plan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligible persons :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>65 years old or over<\/li>\n<li>Under 18 years old<\/li>\n<li>Disabled<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How it works<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eligible individuals receive a letter from Service Canada inviting them to register to the program.<\/p>\n<p>They can then call 1-833-537-4342 to register, providing the following information :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Code included in the letter<\/li>\n<li>Social insurance number<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A welcome kit is then sent to the eligible person by Sun Life Company, which has been mandated by the federal government to administer the program. The eligible person can then make an appointment with the dentist, ensuring that he or she has also registered to the program.<\/p>\n<p>Dentists can register voluntarily to the program administered by the Sun Life company. Dentists receive reimbursements directly.<\/p>\n<p>It is to be noted that contrary to the Qu\u00e9bec Drug Insurance Plan, there is no premium payable for the federal dental insurance plan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Services covered<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The main services covered are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Diagnostics (e.g. examinations, X-rays)<\/li>\n<li>Restoration (e.g., dental caries, crowns)<\/li>\n<li>Endodontics<\/li>\n<li>Prevention (e.g. polishing, scaling)<\/li>\n<li>Prosthodontics (e.g. dental protheses)<\/li>\n<li>Oral surgery<\/li>\n<li>Orthodontics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The program imposes certain limits on the frequency of services eligible for reimbursement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reimbursements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dental expense reimbursements vary according to net family income.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;7492&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_cta h2=&#8221;&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;]It&#8217;s important to note that dentists may charge more than the government-approved fee.
